A Petition to reinstate the funding to KAIROS justice organization

The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) stated on November 30 that it is no longer funding KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives. KAIROS is strongly supported by the United Church. (Source: The United Church of Canada website)

From the KAIROS site:
This decision terminates a 35-year history of cooperation between CIDA and KAIROS and its predecessor organizations, and compromises the work of human rights and ecological integrity in the developing world. This decision also negatively affects the ability of Canadians to develop skills and knowledge in the exercise of their global citizenship.

The Petition: We, the undersigned, petition The Rt. Hon. Stephen Harper to act immediately to direct CIDA to reinstate the multi-year funding of KAIROS. If you wish to sign the on-line petition, go to http://www.gopetition.com/online/32673.html

KAIROS is calling on churches to ring their bells or make some kind of holy noise at 3 pm EST on December 13th in solidarity with the ecumenical worship service in Copenhagen. It's time to do a little holy disturbing ... the Lutheran Cathedral will ring its bells 350 times.
